Magnolia Comfort Knotting

We recently had our annual comfort knotting at our church. It's a fun evening with the whole church helping out.

Bent, But Not Broken

Bent, But Not Broken
2017
10.5" X 9.0"

Detail

Pieces of commercial cotton fabric were cut out and fused to a pieced red background to form a weathered tree that has continued to live.

"We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair;

We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed; ..."

Sewing Day at Our House

I'm feeling grateful for all the ladies that came to our house today to help sew blocks for a quilt top for our Magnolia Sewing Circle.

This vintage feed sack fabric has been on the shelves for years. It was high time to use it up.

Veronica

Emma was here all the way from Indiana. I learned that she loves to sew quilt and comfort tops for charity. She spends hours and hours in her sewing room most days.

Rosanna

Cheryl and a grandson, Will

Chrystal

Rosanna and Jolita. Jolita also fix lunch for everyone and cleaned up afterward.

An after school snack of apples with peanut butter and melted chocolate.

Chrystal was one of my piano students many years ago. By request she's brushing up on "I Heard a Sound of Voices..... around the great white throne."

Life Over the Holidays

I'm lagging behind on the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, #OnRingoLake which isn't unusual for me at this stage of the game.

I've even entertained the idea of adding a little zip and zing with the addition of lime green placed sporatically throughout the quilt. What do you think?

The small group around our table for Christmas lunch included Paul's sister Jeanie & Galen, his folks, and Amy & Ashton.

Sunset at our house from the other side of the pond.

Paul worked on Ashton's hover board ...

... and got it going again.

If only that 300 lb. sow wouldn't have barged her way through between Paul and the gate.
