Red Velvet Comforter

Back in September when we were in Ohio for the Haiti Benefit Auction, my sister Coleen and I spied this red velvet comforter that was to be auctioned.

I guessed that it was made by my Aunt Vera Rose, Father's youngest sister. And sure enough she was there at the sale and acknowledged that she made it. My heart started beating fast and I knew I had to have ... rather, wanted real bad ... that piece of handiwork.

And when the bidding began my dear Paul kept on nodding until everyone else dropped out. I am so pleased.

The pictures just don't show how the fabrics sparkle, glimmer, and shine. And the feather stitching is so even and perfect. It is beautiful!!!!

It is indeed BEAUTIFUL!! What a double blessing -- you got a stunning family heirloom and you were able to bless the people of Haiti in return!

I'm so glad Paul kept nodding his head!
Hey I'm praying extra much for you this week-end. Looking forward to the wedding and being with family. Emily just called and will be staying with us. The hostess was so gracious and said, "By all means, yes, have her come. Great Mennonite hospitality!

Its beautiful, Julia, but the sentimental value is wonderful as well. I am glad you got it, you will treasure it more than anyone else could.

So glad you were able to get this wonderful heirloom. My own dear aunt (age 92) recently made a quilt for her church raffle. Unfortunately, I did not win :( However, the woman who did win publishes the newspaper my aunt wrote news for, for many years. I know she will cherish it also.
