... I had a lunch box like this.
I had seen a plaid quilt made by Elizabeth Hartman called Metropolis. I really liked her quilt and studied and studied it to see if I could make the block, but I just couldn't figure it out. So, I ended up buying her book "Modern Patch Work." She has some more cool easy quilts in there that I'd just love to make.
And then I still couldn't make my quilt just like the plaid pattern. I think I'll chalk up this piece as a learning experience. And why would I quilt "flames" across it? There are no flames in my lunch. It was fun trying out the Sulky Holoshimmer thread although I had issues with it. Maybe it was my needle!
Corn harvest is in full swing for us.
And now Ashton gets to ride with Grampa in the combine.
Today I went to Starkville where a lady was trying to sell her late mother's fabric, lace, ribbon, linens, and a few antiques.
The walls of her large storage room or stuido were lined with cabinets and more cabinets and tables in the center of the room.
You can tell we had a lovely time pulling fabric and digging for treasures.
Even the refrigerator was full of fabric.
I found quite a few pieces for dresses and them some for quilts and comforters.
And you know, I really don't need any more fabric, but when Paul found out about it he said "You better go!" =)

Wow--I thought I had lots of fabric! Before my daughter has to conduct a huge sale, I'm going to make a concentrated effort to use what I have without buying more. I've operated on this philosophy for several years, and it doesn't seem to change the amount of what's here. But how comforting to find just the right piece here on my own shelves.
I had a lunch kit exactly like that and it was my favourite! It looks like you hit the jackpot at the fabric sale! Your little grandson looks like a true farmer on that huge combine! So cute.
I had a lunchbox like that! I still remember the thermos that was tucked inside a metal hook. Us kids would have to fill it with milk. Mom made sure of that. And that fabric collection! And you're harvesting corn? CNN.com is only showing pictures of dried up fields. It's good to see a picture of a harvest.

Judging by the corn harvest, you must be southern Indiana, corn is still green here in Porter Co.
Whoa!! Fabric in the fridge - I never would have thought of seeing that!! lol :) What fun to ride in the combine with grandpa. I didn't know corn got so dry-looking and still had good ears. Learn something new all the time!
I feel better about my stash now. At least there's no fabric in my fridge. I should show my husband, give him the proper perspective on my stash...
